RUSSELL Watson is set to return to the I’m A Celebrity castle.

The former contestant told Stephanie McGovern, on Steph’s Packed Lunch on Friday, January 29, that he has been asked to perform at Gwrych Castle in Abergele.

If restrictions allow, the tenor said he hopes to carry out a concert performance late summer.

He said: “We might be going back to the castle which is great news.

“They contacted me about a week ago and said we’ve had an idea about you maybe doing a concert performance here in the late summer with the castle as the backdrop.

“Obviously if it is safe by then it is something we are looking at doing.”

As well as talking about his potential return to the castle, the classical singer also spoke on the channel 4 programme about his dog Muffin and how she likes to howl when he sings.

Sadly - a planned 'duet' didn't happen on the live show, with Muffin showing no interest in performing.

Prior to his apperance on I'm A Celebrity last year, Russell revealed he had been asked six times before to join the line up.

He snapped up the offer in 2020 as it felt like a ‘different challenge.’

During an interview, he told coastal chief reporter Suzanne Kendrick: “I do know a little bit about the castle. North Wales was a place that, when I was a child, we used to visit a lot of the local castles - Harlech, Conwy and all those places and I’m sure…I’m sure that we have visited the castle before. I can’t remember for sure, but I am pretty certain that we have visited it.

“It is interesting as well because a friend of mine, who was my assistant for about nine years, is a spiritual medium and he did a thing at the castle - searching for ghosts and everything.

"I didn’t get time unfortunately to have a conversation with him regarding what he found."

Russell entered camp with actress Ruth Henshall.

He was eliminated alongside actress Jessica Plummer.

Speaking after his departure from the 20th series, the 54-year-old said: “I would have liked to have done a couple more trials but the public are voting and that was that.

"But the one I did do was enough to last me a lifetime.”
