ROTARIANS may have had to cut their Christmas float run short but an amazing amount was still raised.

Prestatyn Rotarians took their Christmas float out in December. Families adhered to Covid-19 guidelines and stood safely at their garden gates to greet Father Christmas.

With operational restrictions in place, nine out of 14 routes were completed and £2,700 has been raised to be split between St Kentigern's Hospice, Childline (Prestatyn) and the Prestatyn and Meliden Foodbank.

Martin Cotgreave, club president, said: "Donations are still coming in through our website and if anyone would like to help they can do so by visiting our Rotary Prestatyn website and Facebook page."

The club gave thanks to Bancroft Leisure, Celtic Cars, Prestatyn Lidl, Coastal Towbars, Edwin Hughes, and Emma at The Sewing Room who made three new gowns for Father Christmas.

Prestatyn Rotarians continue to support the foodbank through their personal donations.

In an email thanking the Rotarians, foodbank organiser Heather Norris said "In December, the foodbank send out 200 parcels each of three family size bags with everything from foodbank staples to Quality Street, Christmas cake and everything needed for a fresh roast dinner - even pigs in blankets.

"They were gratefully received.

"The volunteers that delivered to doorsteps said some recipients were actually in tears.

£The foodbank also provided toys, some gifted as well as some purchased, 46 families benefitted from the toy bank."
