THE head of a sheep was left in a field after it was "illegally butchered," according to police.

North Wales Police's Rural Crime Team said the incident took place in the Trefnant area.

The sheep head was found by police on Saturday morning.

"Today we have been called about this sheep head left in the Trefnant area," police tweeted.

"Sadly it points to an animal illegally butchered and the carcass taken away."
