A MUM, grandmother and great-mother enjoyed a small celebration as she marked her 100th birthday.

Edith Hall is a resident at Bay Court Care Home in Kinmel Bay. She marked her milestone birthday on Sunday, January 10.

Michael Horton, manager of Bay Court, said: "She loved it. The residents were able to join her and be around her, social distancing.

"She has been with us since April 2016.

"She is a very experienced lady."

Mrs Hall was born and bred in Blackpool as Edith Wild.

She worked at Marks and Spencer after leaving school then went to work as an usherette at Blackpool tower where she met her future Husband John Hall who worked at the Blackpool tower zoo.

They got married on January 27 1940 when he was on leave from the Army.

At this time she went to work on the Blackpool trams as a ‘Clippee’.

Providing further information, Denise and Carolyn - Edith’s daughters-in-laws, said: “Their first son John Albert was born in 1944, their second son David Robert was born in 1948. They bought a shop in Manchester early 1950’s after that they moved to various locations including Stockport, Buxton, Whalley Bridge. They bought an old shop in Carmel and turned that into a holiday home and eventually moved there in 1966.

“Mrs Hall had a bubbly personality and was very outgoing, she was a people person.

“She loved doing tapestry work and would often frame her work and display in her own home. She loved to cook and entertain. Both her and her husband joined the North Wales Organ Society and each one on the committee would take it in terns to entertain.

“John bought a Christie organ and would hold recitals even though neither of them could play the organ.

“She loved to spend hours in the garden.

“They both worked as market traders and her husband purchased the old station car park in Conwy which they regularly used for market days.

“When they lived in Carmel, they did Wigan and Hindley, Holyhead and Llangefni amongst others

“They finally settled in Abergele in their later years until John's death.”

Mrs Hall’s first granddaughter Jackie was born in 1974, followed by grandson Robert in 1988 and granddaughter Nicola in 1991

Her great-grandchildren are Daniel, Emily, Sarah and Alice who was born April 2020.

Bay Court provide care for people with Dementia, mental health conditions, old age and older people living with Alzheimer's.
