POLICE stopped a motorist in Prestatyn who it turned out had travelled all the way from Staffordshire because they "wanted to go to the beach".

The car had come to the attention of North Wales Police officers last night (January 9) due to the manner in which it was being driven.

Not only had the driver broken Covid rules having travelled from Newcastle-under-Lyme, but they also had no insurance and only a provisional licence.

The vehicle was seized as a result of the incident.

North Wales Police Special Constabulary said: "This vehicle came to the attention of our Special Constabulary Road Safety Unit last night due to the manner of driving.

"Vehicle had travelled from Newcastle-under-Lyme to Prestatyn because the driver wanted to go to the beach.

"Also transpired that the driver had no insurance and only a provisional licence. Vehicle seized and reported for three offences.

"Another example of unnecessary demand on the emergency services."
