A MAN was arrested after engaging in a 'peaceful' protest on the Foryd Bridge.

Drivers were asked to seek alternative routes on Sunday, December 20. The incident had "necessitated the closure of the A548 on both sides of the bridge".

RNLI Rhyl all-weather and inshore lifeboats were diverted from training at 11.50am on Sunday to assist emergency services with the incident.

No further information was given.

From about 12.30pm, traffic logs said that the initial closure was in force from Betws Avenue to Southlands Road and is affected travel from Kinmel Bay to Rhyl.

The road re-opened about 7.10pm.

A spokesperson from North Wales Police said: "A man was engaging in a peaceful protest on the Blue Bridge.
