A RHYL schoolgirl's drawing of Santa and his reindeer delivering presents to Rhuddlan Castle has won a Christmas card competition.

Ysgol Llywelyn pupil Emilia Macoirowska, aged 10, was chosen out of more than 400 pupils as the winner by Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies.

The theme was 'Christmas in the Vale of Clwyd' and Emilia was creative to choose the historic landmark as her setting.

Dr Davies visited Emilia at her school where she was awarded the prizes of a bag of crafts and tickets to SC2.

“I was extremely impressed by the standard of all the entries and choosing just one winner was not an easy task," said Dr Davies.

"Emilia’s colourful design stood out to me and my team as it truly depicts what Christmas is all about for children, featuring Santa and presents!

“She had clearly put in a great deal of effort and I am sure that everyone who receives the card will appreciate her artistic talent.

“I would like to thank Emilia and all the other children who entered the competition for the fantastic designs and also their teachers and parents for helping submit the entries. I would also like to thank the sponsors of my card this year. Christmas wishes to you all.”
