AFTER hours of closure, police have reopened the Blue Bridge in Rhyl.
From about 12.30pm, traffic logs said that the inital closure was in force from Betws Avenue to Southlands Road and is affecting travel from Kinmel Bay to Rhyl.
A spokesman for the force said that police were dealing with an incident at the Foryd Bridge in Rhyl (Blue Bridge between Rhyl and Kinmel Bay).
They added that the nature of the incident had "necessitated the closure of the A548 on both sides of the bridge" and asked that drivers avoided the area and to seek alternative routes.
Hours later, at around 4pm, police confirmed that the incident was still ongoing and did not have an idea of when the route would reopen.
Traffic logs later indicated that at about 7.10pm, the road was reopened.
It is understood RNLI crews based in Rhyl were called away from a training exercise at about 11.50am to "assist emergency services with an incident in Rhyl Harbour". They gave no inducation to the nature of the call or of its outcome.
Police did not issue an update on the outcome of the situation at this time (Sunday).
The incident at the Foryd Bridge in Rhyl remains ongoing, and we are unable to give any indication of when the road will be re-opening.
