THE campmates on I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here might sometimes feel like they are being played with by the public, however they have been turned into Lego toys by one fan this year.

Talented Lego enthusiast Simon Dutton, from Abergele, has used the colourful blocks to recreate Gwyrch Castle and celebrities including Vernon Kay and Mo Farah in celebration of the hit ITV show taking place on his doorstep.

The 62-year-old, who runs Lego team-building workshops for businesses, also reinvented highlight moments of this year's series including Shane battling Bushtucker Trials and Ant and Dec in their much-loved presenting act.

“Watching the show has become something of an evening ritual,” said Mr Dutton. “I spend a few hours each day preparing a set after watching the trailer and then improvise when the show is taking place.

"I have modelled the characters with a face and hairstyle that matches them. I also got a tall Ant and a short Dec in their bush hats printed out especially for it. “It felt like a fun thing to do, to trap the show with Lego models in a light-hearted way.”

Mr Dutton, who has collected as many as 300,000 pieces of Lego during his lifelong hobby, also recreated scenes such as contestants sitting around the campfire and eating whatever their grub, as well as new introductions such as Lloyd the cat and the castle’s rumoured ghost in a white dress.

“As show has continued learned very early on that Jess the Plumber wouldn’t eat rabbit, so I pictured her with one, and Vernon likes to be in front of the camera so I usually put him there,” added Mr Dutton.

"I have tried to show it as it is and keep it light-hearted, as I don’t want to take the mickey out of anybody.

"The show has been good for Abergele as when you walk along main shopping street you can see how local people have embraced it.”
