DELYN’S MS has once again put on her white ribbon in support of the White Ribbon campaign and is using her platform to encourage others to do the same.

November 25 is recognised as the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and is commonly known as “White Ribbon Day”.

This date marks the beginning of 16 “Days of Action”, where volunteers and ambassadors across the world campaign to end violence against women.

Historically data has shown that more than two women a week are killed by a current or former partner, highlighting the grim reality of domestic violence in the UK.

Pledging her support to the campaign, Hannah Blythyn MS said: “We all have a part to play in bringing an end to violence against women. Every little action, whether it is sharing a helpline number, offering a sympathetic ear, or donating to the White Ribbon campaign, makes a difference.

“Home should be a safe place for everyone, and in a year where we have been confined to our homes more than ever, it is important that women across our corner of the country know – it is not OK and there are people on hand to support you.”

The Welsh Government have increased the level of funding available to tackle violence against women this year, following concerns in a decrease in reporting of incidents during the current coronavirus pandemic.

Ms Blythyn offers her support to the campaign each year and joins with colleagues in the Senedd, to use their platforms to promote awareness of the support which is available across Wales.
