A YOGA instructor and art lover living in Prestatyn recently hosted a one-of-a-kind exhibition featuring work from artists all the way from New York.

As has been the case for most businesses this year due to Covid-19, Yoga Shala in Rhuddlan, which is ran by Yogi Lee Das, has had to evolve in order to keep its doors open.

With that in mind, the 38-year-old who is originally from the town but now lives in Prestatyn, decided to make the most of the NYCE art gallery space, which Yoga Shala doubles up with.

He combined two of his greatest loves in life to bring some positivity to the local area after the most recent lockdown period came to an end.

Mr Das said the event held on November 14 went 'amazingly well'.

He added: "Art and yoga both saved my life at different times, and I wanted to bring something positive to the area. It was a free event where you could come and celebrate the fire-break lockdown being lifted and nurture your creative side at the same time."

New York's museums, galleries and open spaces are home to some of the most creative, and inspiring artists and artwork in the world.

The event in Rhuddlan featured the work of up and coming artists from New York including Hira Hassan, Delphine Le Goff, Ana Rebeca Castillo and street artist The Chalk Jungle.

It was the first of a few more art exhibitions planned for Yoga Shala North Wales in the coming weeks.

The next free event will take place on December 19 and feature a celebration of international urban artists.

Pieces on show at this event will include original hand painted art from California, London, Barcelona and, once more, New York.

Mr Das, a former pupil of Ysgol Emrys Ap Iwan, opened his first yoga studio in Prestatyn - after more than eight years studying the various disciplines across the world - before relocating to Rhuddlan.

By now, the site doubles up as an art gallery, as well as hosting regular yoga classes and art therapy workshops.

Mr Das added: "My vision is that we become creative, reconnect with our flow state, building our community through free inspiring events and better connected with our brothers and sisters all over the world and put North Wales on the international map too."

This was displayed further back in January, when Yoga Shala welcomed the first Hare Krishna Shala to North Wales.
