A GROUP of 18 North Wales Police Special Constabulary Officers has been sworn in during an online ceremony.

The Constables have completed their initial training and are ready to go out on the beat in North Wales.

Mark Owen, Chief Officer for the North Wales Police and Special Constabulary, took to Twitter to explain how families and friends were able to see the event, he said: We used online tech to enable friends and family to observe the occasion without leaving their homes.”

The Special Constabulary is a force of trained volunteers who support their local police. 'Specials', as they are known, come from all walks of life - they are teachers, taxi drivers, accountants and secretaries, or other careers. Specials spend around four hours a week, or more, supporting the police to tackle crime in their community.
