THE Vale of Clwyd's Member of the Senedd (MS) is encouraging residents to show their support for the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.

Ann Jones MS has made the call as this year’s Remembrance Services will be distinctly different to past years as we all continue to adapt to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

The Welsh Government has allowed acts of Remembrance that are outdoors at War Memorials or Cenotaphs to take place on November 7 or 8, subject to public health restrictions and limits on the number of people who can attend.

Ann Jones MS said: “People across Vale of Clwyd have always been incredibly generous in their support of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal and their work for former servicemen and women.

“This year, we’ll all be marking Remembrance Sunday slightly differently. Whilst we may not be able to join local parades or gather at War Memorials, we can still pay our respects at home and by displaying a poppy in our windows.

“I know many people have not been able to purchase a poppy as they normally would have done from face-to-face collectors, but are still keen to support the work of the Royal British Legion.

“There’s a wide range of items that can be purchased from the Poppy Appeal’s website (www.poppyshop.org.uk). All purchases help to fund the work of the Legion. You can also donate £3 by texting ‘POPPY’ to 70020. Texts cost £3 plus the standard network rate.

“However you chose to remember, you’ll be joining hundreds of thousands of people across the country who will never forget that for our tomorrow, they gave their today.”
