JOBS could be at risk at Conwy Valley's Bodnant Gardens.

The National Trust has been hit hard by the effects of the coronavirus crisis and has lost more than £200m this year.

The charity is making 514 compulsory redundancies and have accepted 782 voluntary redundancies, covering both salaried and hourly paid jobs. These are in addition to 162 project roles previously announced.

Bodnant Garden is one of the many sites owned by the National Trust.

A spokesperson for the membership organisation for heritage conservation said they were unable to comment on what roles may be at risk and at what sites jobs were being cut.

A spokesperson added: "We are doing all we can to support those who may be affected by the proposed changes.

"We have reviewed every aspect of the charity and we are making savings in almost every area of activity."

"It is with deep sadness that we have to make redundancies.

"Coronavirus means we simply have no other choice if we want to give the charity a sustainable future and we have exhausted every other avenue to find savings.

"We aren't making public the detail of numbers of job losses in work areas or job families. However, most work areas of our work are affected in some way.

"As many of our decisions relate to colleagues' jobs it would be unfair to comment on specific roles at this stage, and of course we are unable to share any information that is confidential."
