RESTRICTIONS on letting tradespeople and beauticians into your home during local lockdown have been explained by Welsh Government.

Whilst the law changes on how and where you will be allowed to see friends and family when local restrictions come into force across the majority of North Wales counties, many are asking about pre planned building work and beauty appointments now thrown up in the air.

A Welsh Government spokesman said: “Work carried out in people’s homes, for example by tradespeople, can continue. Our advice, however, is that both the tradesperson and household members should be well and have no symptoms of coronavirus.

“Like other businesses, tradespeople must take all reasonable measures to ensure that two metre distancing is maintained at all times when working in other people’s households and should follow the advice in our social distancing guidance.

“We recommend no work should be carried out in any household which is isolating or where a person who is classed as extremely vulnerable unless it is to repair a fault which poses a direct risk to people’s safety – for example, emergency plumbing.

“In these cases, Public Health Wales can provide advice to tradespeople and households. But no work should be carried out by a tradesperson who has coronavirus symptoms, however mild.”

A mobile beauty therapist or hairdresser is also permitted to enter your home – providing that all precautions were taken beforehand.

The spokesman added: “This would still be allowed under the law as long as they are able to take appropriate protective measures.

“We do ask people though to think not only about what you can’t do because the law says so, but also about what you shouldn’t do because it could increase the spread of coronavirus and your risk of contracting coronavirus.”
