A NEW 3G pitch has been officially opened at a school in Bangor.

The new facility at Ysgol Friars School includes two five-a-side pitches and one seven-a-side pitch.

Level three sport pupils Cameron Barry and Abi Williams, who both also play for Bangor 1876's men and women's sides respectively, opened the facility along with Friars headteacher Neil Foden and deputy headteacher David Healey.

Cameron Barry said: “It’s great to finally have a modern facility for the local community. We are looking forward to make use of it for our sport lessons and training."

Abi Williams said: "Girls football has really grown in Friars over the last few years. We are excited about improving pupil numbers on our new pitch and improve standards when delivering coaching sessions."

The school hopes to be able to hire out the facility in the near future to local clubs. Any enquires should be e-mailed to Rachelle Williams, RJW@friars.gwynedd.sch.uk.
