POLICE have launched a two-week training course for officers that specialise in helping vulnerable people.
North Wales Police’s Adults At Risk course will cover autism, safeguarding, financial abuse, dementia, domestic abuse, honour-based abuse, age -related vulnerability and learning disabilities.
It follows recommendations by the independent police regulator HM Inspectorate of Constabulary to ensure that officer duties are up to date with current legislation, policy and practices.
The course includes multi-agency work with the Care Inspectorate for Wales, the Bestsi Cadwaladar University Health Board Trust, The Age Commissioner for Wales and the Crown Prosecution Service.
It will end with a three-day event in which officers will carry out a mock investigation based on a real NWP case with permission from the real victim’s family.
North Wales Police said similar courses will be carried out in the New Year.
