NORTH Wales Police will be patrolling the region's roads to ensure motorists are driving safely this weekend.

Officers of the Roads Policing Unit took to social media to warn drivers they will be on patrol and will enforce the 'Fatal5 offences'.

A spokesman said: "We are on patrol today covering the North Wales area, ensuring that people are adhering to speed limits and riding/driving safely.

"We are visible and enforcing the Fatal5 offences, please treat the roads with respect."

The policing team said they had to aid Traffic Wales officers over the weekend due to 'inconsiderate' and 'illegal' parking on the A5 in Ogwen Valley.

Around 11 vehicles were towed away and drivers were fined.

On Sunday morning, Traffic Wales tweeted a plea to motorists to not repeat any of the offences.

They said: "We don't want a repeat of yesterday. Any vehicles parked irresponsibly or illegally again today along the A5 at Dyffryn Ogwen will be towed at the owner's expense, which is a minimum of £150 plus storage fees."
