A woman has been jailed for six months after being accused of biting a policewoman’s finger, causing a cut, when arrested at Abergele.

Danielle Mullan, 34, of South Parade, Pensarn, admitted assaulting an emergency worker early on September 5.

Prosecutor Diane Williams at Llandudno court said police had been called to a report of the defendant causing “mayhem” and drunken Mullan had been kicking a door and screaming. She was carried to a police vehicle but committed the assault.

Nia Dawson, defending, said Mullan, originally from Northampton, was apologetic. She had been in a volatile relationship and had been headbutted before police were called, the solicitor added.

District judge Gwyn Jones said Mullan had a record of acting in an aggressive manner and there was only one sentence for deliberately biting police.

“The public demand that the court takes a dim view of such matters,” the judge remarked.
