A TOWN post office has reopened after moving to new premises.

Bodelwyddan Post Office opened at a Spar, Abergele Road - next to the new Costa Coffee Drive-Thru - last month.

It was previously operated at Spar on Church View which is run by family-owned convenience store operator Blakemore Retail.

Blakemore Retail relocated its store and Post Office.

Stewert Waldron, Blakemore Retail Post Office Controller, said: “As a community retailer we are delighted to offer post office services in our convenience stores; local residents can access a wide range of Post Office services during our shop opening hours – in excess of 120 hours a week."

"The shop and Post Office have moved to modern new premises.”

Customers will be able to access mail services including Special Delivery, Local Collect, home shopping returns, and make online banking cash deposits and withdrawals, withdrawals using a Post Office Card Account, send funds abroad using Moneygram, pay bills, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.

There was talk about moving the branch in 2018 and in early 2019. One of the reasons cited for the delay is the Coronavirus pandemic.

Construction work got underway on Costa Coffee and the new Spar shop in Bodelwyddan in late 2019.

There was a delay opening the new Costa Coffee Drive-Thru officially, due to Covid-19, which also had an impact on the move.

Damien Haydock, Post Office Account Executive, said: “We know how important Post Offices are to communities and we are confident that this branch will meet customer needs.”
