A PUB situated in a small village near Prestatyn has been shortlisted in a national search to find ‘Britain’s Best Beer Garden’.

The Eagle and Child Inn in Gwaenysgor has made its way into the final ten of a competition set up by national digital radio station Union JACK.

The pub has already received more than 1,200 votes from the public.

The eventual winning venue will host a day of live broadcasts by Union JACK radio, including a live pub quiz hosted by legendary ‘The Chase’ quizzer Mark “The Beast” Labbett – who will also be a part of the broadcast.

The Eagle & Child Inn was selected due to its ‘incredible location’, at the top of the Prestatyn Mountain in the tranquil conservation village of Gwaenysgor, located in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The pub’s location is said to be ‘ideal for walkers and sightseers’ alike, while its gardens are ‘superb for relaxing’.

Giles Gear, Programme Manager of Union JACK radio, said: “It’s been near impossible finding the final ten from more than 1,200 entries in Union JACK’s competition to find Britain’s Best Beer Garden, and now it’s down to the public. If people want their local to win, get online, vote, and spread the word. Having “The Beast” turn up in your local beer garden really is a money-can’t-buy prize – and we also have a few surprises in store”.
