TWO businesses have joined forces so they can continue serving the community during the pandemic.

To cope under the current circumstances, Kim’s Kitchen in Prestatyn have teamed up with Origin Bar. Kim’s Kitchen has a small premises and can re-open three tables inside whilst Origin has no kitchen.

Hanna Leckie, from Origin, who has teamed up with Helen Wright from Kim’s, said: “My dad John and his brother Michael own Origin and I manage the business for both of them. I was in school with Nathan, Kim’s son.

“My dad and brother are both Prestatyn born and bred and have always been local business men. Therefore, we are very community orientated.

“I was thinking of ways for us to all support each other at this time and it dawned on me that Kim’s is such a small premises, that they would only be able to reopen three tables with the two-metre distancing. I approached Nathan, who is overseas, and got in touch with Helen and Phil who run Kim's Kitchen and we arranged a meeting.

“We have a much larger premises and were quiet in the day so I thought it would be good for us to offer the space to them to serve their food properly and not in take away boxes within Origin.

“It provides our customers with an extra service too as we do not have a kitchen.”

Tributes flooded in last year to Kim Graham, owner of Kim's Kitchen.

Kim died after a long battle with cancer. The 51-year-old had ran the dog friendly traditional cafe since 2012.

Hanna said: "Kim was just so well loved and respected. She was beautiful inside and out. She really created a hub there and built up a very loyal clientele."

Origin re-opened to customers on August, Thursday 6.

Hanna added: “The last few months have been particularly difficult for all businesses on Prestatyn High Street and of course, we have just been waiting for the go ahead to reopen.”

Origin will be open 12pm until 11pm on Thursday to Sunday and Kim’s will be offering their service 12pm until 3pm.

Hanna said: “We just need our wonderful community to come out and support us now.”

Cllr Gareth-Sandilands, of South West ward, said: “I think this is a another great example in Prestatyn of entrepreneurial spirit to cope with the current conditions the public and businesses face locally.”
