A 20-year-old man accused of kicking a stranger who had been sitting in a Rhyl street to the head, causing a broken jaw, was jailed for 16 months on Thursday.
Louis Devine, of Emlyn Grove, Rhyl, admitted causing grievous bodily harm.
Judge Nicola Jones at Caernarfon crown court said the victim needed ongoing painful dental treatment.
“Due to the severity of the injuries only an immediate custodial sentence is appropriate,” she declared.
The judge said Devine had shouted something and the man responded before a “full force” kick was delivered to his head.
Simon Killeen, defending, said it was “one moment of absolute madness in drink, late at night”.
