As the Welsh Government continues with its cautious easing of lockdown, Busnes@LlandrilloMenai - the business arm of Grŵp Llandrillo Menai - is looking yet further ahead with its brand-new training package designed to ensure that tourism businesses can meet the ‘new normal’ strategy, safety and service standards required.

This new programme is called “Welcome Back to Tourism” and courses start on July 6 or July 20. It aims to help the tourism industry prepare through the provision of tutor lead, online training that will provide the tools to confidently prepare for re-opening.

The project team is led by Head of Business Development, Christine Evans. She explains:

“Our Employer Engagement team and the development team have listened to key local businesses about their main concerns and how they are addressing the task of re-opening.

“We aim for this programme, which is short but intensive, to give this key sector the practical tools to assist re-opening and growing their businesses in the coming months and years. The programme is for any business or organisation working with our visitor economy. As it is being delivered online, businesses from across Wales can sign up.”

“Welcome Back to Tourism” features North Wales Business Academy tutor mentors delivering sessions that support business planning before, during and after re-opening.

Tansy Rogerson and Armadillo Events have developed a special module to help businesses and their teams welcome back their customers and consider the impacts of tourism in our communities.

The Health and Safety team, led by tutor Huw Huws based at the CIST campus in Llangefni, will provide tuition in preparing risk assessments and looking at human behaviours in safety.

The course package is aimed at owners, managers and leaders with the responsibility for planning or implementing safe re-opening and expansion.
