THE PREMISES of a former high street bank in Flintshire is being put up for auction.

The building on Saltney high street was formerly home to a Barclays branch before it closed in January of 2015.

The premises has been empty ever since but could be given a new lease of life as it has been put up for auction as part of Newton-le-Willows based auctioneer Pugh's July 16 property auction.

A guide price of £125,000 has been set for the building, and the firm says the two-storey property could lend itself to residential conversion in the form of two flats.

Saltney county councillor Richard Lloyd says he would welcome any potential development of the building.

He said: "It was desperately sad when the Barclays branch closed five years ago - I'd been banking there since I was a child.

"But it'd be great if it could be bought and renovated instead of being left to become another eyesore on Saltney high street."
