VOLUNTEERS life-savers were kept busy following reports of two people in difficulty off the beach and a casualty with a suspected broken leg.

Rhyl RNLI launched both lifeboats on Wednesday, June 24 at about 3.30pm following an alert from off-duty lifeguards in the Prestatyn area.

Rhyl Coastguard also investigated.

A spokesperson for Rhyl Lifeboat said: “On arrival at the scene, nothing was found. Further onshore inquires found a group of youths who said they had been in the water.

“As all was fine, all units returned to station by 4.34pm.”

At 5pm, both boats launched again to assist Rhyl coastguards with the a casualty who had slipped on rocks and had suspected broken leg.

This was on Towyn beach.

The spokesperson added: “The casualty was transported on the Inshore Lifeboat to the all-weather lifeboat and taken to the boathouse where an ambulance took the casualty to hospital.”
