MORE THAN two dozen new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Wrexham in the last day as an outbreak at Rowan's Foods worsens, figures show.

Figures released by Public Health Wales on Tuesday show that there were 25 new cases in Wrexham, and four in Flintshire in the last 24 hours.

It comes as the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus among staff and their families of the Rowan Foods plant on Wrexham Industrial Estate jumped to 70 on Tuesday.

A further 26 cases of the virus were confirmed across the rest of North Wales, as the region's total number of confirmed cases now stands at 3,420.

Sadly, three more people who had tested positive for the virus have died in North Wales in the last day, taking the region's total number of suspected coronavirus deaths to 344.

Nationally, 98 new cases were confirmed - taking Wales' total to 15,295 cases out of 160,204 tests.
