A YOUNG Wrexham girl needed hospital treatment after being pushed off her bike in a random and unprovoked attack.

The girl, who is 13, was riding her bike on Cefn Road in Wrexham on Saturday (June 20) at about 2pm when the incident occurred.

It saw a woman, said to be in her 40s, also riding a bike along the road allegedly forcibly push the child off her bike as she rode past, screaming the words "slow down" before her and a man she was with rode off.

The girl suffered a deep cut to her knee which required hospital treatment.

And her mother said she is "completely shocked and angered" by the assault.

She told the Leader: "I can't believe that someone, and an adult at that, can do this to a little girl just out on her bike - that's all she was doing.

"My daughter will have a few scars from this and I hope the offender comes to light."

The incident was reported to North Wales Police which is investigating it.

A spokesperson for the force said: "At 2pm on June 20 a 13-year-old girl cycling with a friend on Cefn Road, Wrexham was knocked off her bicycle when a couple in their 40s deliberately barged through and carried on riding.

"The girl sustained a deep cut to her knee which needed hospital treatment.

"The woman who knocked the child over was riding a purple bike, wearing yellow cycling glasses and carrying a pink bag.

"She had black hair and her male partner referred to her as 'Emma' as they were riding away.
