BUSINESSES in Rhyl are making preparations to re-open their doors this week after being given the green light by the Welsh Government.

On June 19, First Minister Mark Drakeford revealed that all non-essential shops in Wales will be able to re-open from Monday, June 22.

Rhyl Bid, who has spoken to 65 businesses over the last week in the process of completing their Covid-19 risk assessments, planning for the flow of customers, and outfitting their staff and premises with protective measures, reflected on the journey the town has been on during lockdown and praised how the community has supported each other.

Abby Pilling, Rhyl BID manager said: “Businesses worked quickly to diversify and modify their offers, so as to continue to serve our locals safely, volunteers have been out in droves, our local photographers have been flooding social media pages with inspiring images of our stunning beach, and we’ve all been cheered by the post-box toppers appearing like magic.

"We have been continually working with our local businesses throughout the lockdown and we are looking forward to launching our 'Stronger Together' marketing campaign, which has been inspired by the strong relationship between our local residents and the local businesses that serve them - this is a relationship built on trust. It is vital that as we get back to business, we work to nurture this relationship, and support our local businesses to survive and thrive.

"We wish all the businesses good luck as you prepare to re-open, and express our sincere thanks to all the businesses that have remained open, diversified and have already been working differently to keep everyone safe.”

The Welsh Government is working with local governments on ways to make our towns safer. There will be changes to public spaces and the way spaces are use.
