SAMPLES are being taken from a lake that has turned green.

Concerns were raised by a Rhyl resident about Marine Lake in Rhyl.

The cyclist, who asked not to be named, said: "I regularly cycle around the Marine Lake and have noticed the the lake water is green probably due to algae as a result of the warm weather, which is a hazard to health to anyone who enter the water and very often one sees dogs swimming.

"The other thing I notice, there are no birds on the lake which is not the usual sight at this location.

"The Lake needs to be drained as soon as practical to bring the bird life back to normal at this peaceful location."

A spokesperson for Denbighshire County Council said they were aware of the situation.

They added: "We have been in contact with Natural Resources Wales.

"We are currently in the process of taking water samples from the lake.”
