DELYN'S representative wants to know what local residents think about the future of Flintshire.

Local Member of the Senedd, Hannah Blythyn, is holding a series of new virtual events to find out what residents across Delyn think needs to be part of “Future Flintshire”.

Since being elected in 2016 Hannah has hosted a number of community based ‘Future Flintshire’ events as well as “Democracy Days” to ensure young people’s voices are heard at the heart of Welsh politics, and “Devolution Days” to help engage people with devolved politics in Wales.

Hannah Blythyn MS said: "As MS for Delyn, I’ve always tried to provide a platform for people across the constituency to have their say on what they think could and should be changed and improved within our communities, county and country.

"We know that our public services and our economy now face further pressures as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic and I will take a sustained and collective effort to rebuild and revitalise.

"For me, the key to make changes that see a real and long lasting difference to our area, is to have the people, businesses and organisations of this area involved in shaping our future.

The local MS has already hosted virtual meetings with Thomas Comber (Member of the Welsh Youth Parliament for Delyn) and other young people, so that she could hear their views on what changes could be made to make Delyn better for younger and future generations.

They raised a variety of issues with their local MS, including how different parts of daily life could move out of lockdown, ranging from shops and cafes, to schools and and what sort of support they would want to see moving forward.

Thomas Comber added: "It was great to speak with Hannah and other young people about what we see for the future of Flintshire and our home in Delyn.

"For me there needs to be improved access to mental health services, more work to tackle fly-tipping, and more political education so that young people understand how decisions are made.

"Hannah is always keen to listen to ideas and offer solutions, so I would definitely encourage others to get in touch with her and share their thoughts on Future Flintshire."

In addition to hearing from young people, Hannah Blythyn MS is looking to hear from residents from all across Delyn, as well as community groups, businesses and other organisations. All comments and ideas are welcome, whether they are about education and the environment, or health and the economy. If residents have opinions, comments or ideas that they would like to share then they can contact her office on 01352 762102 or at Hannah.Blythyn@sendd.wales.

The Welsh Government are currently asking the people of Wales to provide ideas on how Wales can recover from the coronavirus pandemic. They are asking for people’s ideas to be emailed in to ourfuturewales@gov.wales. Hannah would also be keen to know ideas as the local representative, and has asked to be copied in at Hannah.Blythyn@senedd.wales.
