A YOUNG girl aims to make everyone happy during the coronavirus lockdown.

Eight-year-old Darcie Hester Reilly Byrne has been performing for her neighbours in Connah's Quay every week in a bid to spread some joy.

She told the Leader that her favourite song so far has been Senorita but she enjoys performing.

She said: "I don't really get nervous, I've been on the West End and that was a bit scary.

"Really you can just be yourself and make the audience happy and that makes me happy."

This week will be Darcie's last performance which will see her perform multiple songs.

Dad Darren said the family is extremely proud of her.

He added: "After the Clap for Carers event started she wanted to sing to people in our close, some of whom work in the NHS.

"They are all doing hard work and she wanted to put a smile on their faces.

"I'm really proud of her. She goes to PQA in Chester and Deeside Taekwondo, she just loves performing.

"She's always performed. It's something she decided to do herself.

"She was nervous the first week but she loves it. Myself and her mum are so proud of her.

"It's just a better sense of community during these times."
