A MAN who died following a house fire near Corwen in Denbighshire has been named.

Coroner John Gittins at Ruthin opened an investigation into the death of Paul McKee, 63, unemployed, who died at his home in Penrhos, Bryn Eglwys, on May 15.

There will be a full inquest in due course.

Two fire appliances from Wrexham, one from Corwen and an aerial ladder platform from Wrexham were mobilised to the incident. Crews used four sets of breathing apparatus and three hose reel jets to tackle the fire.

The Bryneglwys community rallied together to show their support and pay tribute following the death of Mr McKee, who was a keen biker and appeared to have many talents.

Taking to facebook to pay tribute, one close friend wrote: “Very sad news, Paul was a valued member of our groups, a talented musician, singer and songwriter. Will be sadly missed by us all. Our condolences to his family and friends.”

Another person said: “Going to miss your friendly wave, you’re heavy on my heart today. May the Heavens welcome you with open arms.”

One user said Mr McKee was a “top man who will be sadly missed”, whilst others said he was a “gentle soul” and a “lovely man”.

The Bryneglwys Village Shop’s facebook page says it was approached by a customer asking them to set up a fundraiser in Mr McKee’s honour. As he had been living with Diabetes, the shop decided to raise money for Diabetes UK, so far raising nearly £300.
