FLORAL bed maintenance has been reintroduced by Prestatyn Town Council.

It is hoped the work will help, in some small way, to promote health and mental wellbeing of residents.

Prestatyn Town Council said they hope visitors can enjoy the displays later this year when the restrictions are lifted.

Town Councillor Anton Sampson, chair of community development and regeneration committee, said: "The usual flower beds, planters and hanging baskets will be in place within the coming weeks.

"Our contractors will be adhering to the Covid-19 safety guidelines that are in place.

"I think it's important that our town looks good and that we are prepared and ready for business for when a level of 'normality' resumes.

"It's also important for the wellbeing of our residents that our town doesn't look like it's been forgotten and a bit of flora about the town seems to lift peoples spirits, something we could all do with."

Cllr Tony Flynn, mayor of Prestatyn and Meliden, said: "This is great news for residents.

"The town takes a great pride in the appearance of the open spaces."

The contractor will be operating a phased return of low risk outdoor work within cordoned off areas.
