A FRENCH celebrity chef has thrown his support behind North West Cancer Research in a bid to raise much needed funds.

Jean-Christophe Novelli, a 5 AA Rosette and multi Michelin Star award-winning chef, is offering supporters a unique experience of winning a private virtual cookery demonstration, using the ingredients they have in their home kitchens.

Tickets costs £5 per entry.

The winning ticket will receive a video-chat cookery lesson with Jean-Christophe and learn how to make some delicious lockdown dishes.

Jean-Christophe became a passionate supporter of cancer charities after his son Valentino was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma as a newborn.

He said: “Cancer charities are having a really tough time at the minute and I wanted to do anything I could to help.

“I personally know just how horrific a disease cancer is and it’s one that will still be a problem once the current crisis is over. When I heard, through a friend, of the fantastic work being carried out by North West Cancer Research, I knew I wanted to support them."

“I am grateful every day that Valentino has been cured but I know that this wouldn’t have been possible without the advances made by research."

North West Cancer Research is an independent charity dedicated to putting North Wales cancer needs first by funding pioneering research to tackle the cause, improve the care and find the cure for cancer.

Due to the coronavirus lockdown, the charity has had to cancel all its planned events and fundraising, meaning a potential loss of income of more than £1 million this year.

Alastair Richards, CEO of North West Cancer Research, said: “We are honoured that Jean-Christophe has chosen to support us. North West Cancer Research is facing the biggest challenge in its 70-year history. We have lost over half of our income due to the current crisis and unfortunately, do not qualify for any Government funding – it is a real struggle for us.

“Jean- Christophe’s support will make a real difference to us, we can’t thank him enough.

"I look forward to inviting him to see our work first-hand when we are able."
