A MAN from Rhyl has lost £7000 as a result of a "Romance Scam".
These types of scams are driven by one person (who will set up a fake profile via social media) with the intention of leading another person to believe they are in love with them in order to benefit in some way e.g. by stealing money from them.
The scam involving the Rhyl man was reported to North Wales Police (NWP) this morning.
A spokesperson for NWP said: "It relates to someone from Ghana contacting a vulnerable person.
"A man from #Rhyl has been scammed, before the scam was noticed, he had lost £7,000.
"Don't fall victim to romance scammers. Not everyone is who they say they are!"
