BOTH Westlife and Little Mix have revealed their concerts will not go ahead this summer in Colwyn Bay.

Last November, the Pioneer revealed Irish pop group Westlife would be headlining Access All Eirias at Stadiwm Zip World on July 5. The group were coming to the town as part of their 15-date Stadiums in the Summer Tour.

Little Mix were due to return to the town on July 11 as part of their upcoming UK Summer tour.

Both shows have been cancelled as part of efforts to stop the coronavirus from spreading.

In a statement, Westlife said: "To all our fans – it is with great sadness that despite best efforts, our shows scheduled for the UK in June and July must be cancelled.

Rhyl Journal:

Little Mix said they were heartbroken not to perform

"We have been monitoring the UK Government’s advice surrounding mass gatherings and it is very clear that this is the course we need to take to ensure the protection of our fans, our crew and everyone around us. But also to ease pressure on those working tirelessly to fight this virus.

"Those who have been on the Westlife journey with us know how important performing is to us but also know that safety must come first and foremost in delivering a successful tour."

Promoters are working with ticketing partners to process refunds.

Ticket-holders are being asked to look out for an email from their ticketing agent and to only contact them if no contact has been received by May 5.

In a statement, Little Mix said: "The band are heartbroken not to perform this summer, but the health and safety of all Little Mix fans is of course their No.1 priority.

"Your ticket agent will be in touch prior to May 5 to arrange your refund.

"Tickets bought from Ticket Agents included a £1 donation to music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins, who need donations now more than ever."

The £1 donation will still be given to the charity unless requested by customers.

The statement added: "Please understand that all ticket agents, venue and promoters are extremely busy, working with skeleton staff in these unprecedented times, so ask for patience when processing refunds for cancelled shows.

"We hope everyone stays safe over the next few months and look forward to performing again when the time is right.”
