THE Football Association of Wales have suspended the JD Cymru North season until June due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The governing body have taken the decision to delay the resumption of the campaign until Tuesday, June 2 as concerns remain about the spread of the virus in large gatherings.
This comes after the Scottish FA extended their suspension and the English Football Association confirmed the cancellation of all non-league and grassroots leagues would remain despite pleas from hundreds of clubs across the country.
League officials are believed to have produced a fixture list that will enable the JD Cymru North and South Leagues in order for them to come to a successful conclusion.
The Journal also understands that this rapidly changing situation also means the FAW will resume fixtures when it is safe to do so.
This would come as a result of social distancing measures being lifted by the government.
Although the extension comes as a blow, it gives those chasing promotion to the JD Cymru Premier hope that their efforts throughout the season will not be for nothing.
An extension of player registrations is also going to be confirmed by the governing body during their official announcement, which is expected in the not-too-distant future.
