The number of cases of coronavirus have leapt in Lancashire to 620 people testing positive.

The new figures from Public Health England, released this afternoon, show that 536 have tested positive for COVID-19 - 73 more people in the Lancashire borough since Thursday.

Meanwhile in Blackburn with Darwen there has also been a rise of six cases up to 43, from 37 the previous day.

In Blackpool, there are now 41 patients suffering with the virus, up from 13 from yesterday.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases across the whole county to 620 which shows an increase of 92 on the figures from the previous day.

According to Public Health England there were 4,450 new cases of coronavirus recorded in the UK on Thursday.

This brings the current total number of people testing positive for the virus to 38,168 cases.
