THE domestic football fixture suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic could be extended in the coming days.
The Journal understands that the Football Association of Wales are now working on the premise that all fixtures are going to be suspended until May 30, with a decision regarding this set to be confirmed by UEFA and all other parties in due course.
This would be another substantial delay to the season, with the current ban of fixtures running until April 30.
These proposals give the FAW a fighting chance of finishing the JD Cymru Premier, North and South campaign throughout June, in addition to crowning a winner for the JD Welsh Cup.
Plans have been sent into disarray due to the ongoing concern surrounding the virus, with strict social distancing measures implemented by the government last week to prevent the risk of infection.
All sporting events in the country have been put on hold until further notice, with the Welsh Rugby Union going one step further and cancelling their domestic season with immediate effect.
The English Football Association have also expunged all fixtures from non-league tier level three down. This is expected to be followed by the FAW in the not-too-distant future.
