DENBIGHSHIRE children who receive free school meals will continue to do so despite schools being shut across the county.

Denbighshire County Council said pupils who are entitled to the free school meals offer can collect a packed lunch from school each day.

All but four schools in Denbighshire remain open to children of nearly 2,000 key workers. Those shut include Ysgol Trefnant, Ysgol Pendref in Denbigh, Ysgol Llanbedr and St Asaph VP.

A council spokesperson said children whose school is closed will be allocated to their most appropriate site.

A Denbighshire County Council spokesperson said: "For those who normally receive free school meals, but are not children of key workers, the education and catering teams have arranged for them to have a packed lunch.

"Pupils and students will be expected to come to collect them from school.

"For those children and young people accessing the child care provision for key workers children, they will be provided with a meal.

"Those who are not entitled to free school meals will need to pay as usual."
