A FLINTSHIRE funeral directors is collecting Easter Eggs for children's wards, hospices and a local women's refuge.

John Knowles Funeral Services, in Broughton, says it has been "blown away" by the kindness and generosity of people in the wake of its appeal.

The funeral directors has collected dozens of boxes of the Easter treats - which will be delivered to the Countess of Chester and Wrexham Maelor Hospitals' children's wards, Hope House and Ty Gobaith children's hospice and a Flintshire women's refuge.

As well as the many donations by made by members of the public, Spar in Buckley has £200 worth of Easter Eggs.

And Home Sense in Broughton - which is sadly having to close its stores temporarily due to the coronavirus outbreak - has donated all its Easter eggs and Easter related goodies to the appeal, as well as having donated all its perishable food to local food banks.

Lynn Jones, of John Knowles Funeral Services, said: "We have had an outstanding response from the local community, we are actually blown away with the kindness of everyone - so many of you have been in to all our offices and donated Easter Eggs for our appeal - thank you so much.

"There are some poorly children and children that can’t go home this Easter so if we can make it special for them

"We have been in touch with all of the about and they are happy we can still deliver the eggs safely outside the premises.

"To say we are extremely grateful is an understatement. Especially at this uncertain time to know that you have gone above and beyond to help us is truly amazing."
