GP SURGERIES across Conwy and Denbighshire are putting in measures to support the response to Coronavirus.

Temporary changes to appointments and the way services are provided have been made to practices managed by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB).

Those impacted include: Healthy Prestatyn Iach in Prestatyn; Canolfan Goffa Ffestiniog in Blaenau Ffestiniog; Rysseldene in Colwyn Bay; Llys Meddyg in Conwy and Meddygfa Gyffin in Conwy

The changes have been made in an attempt to limit the spread of Coronavirus.

Patients registered at one of the surgeries listed, and wish to book an appointment, are asked to telephone their surgery first.

A spokesperson from BCUHB said: "If possible we are asking our patients not to attend the surgery to make an appointment.

"Patients will be asked a series of questions relating to their symptoms. Guidance will be provided to them by either a receptionist and/or a GP/Nurse and an appointment will be made for them at the surgery if required.

"We kindly ask patients that they do not go to the GP surgery if they have high temperature/fever and/or new continuous cough. Self-isolate for seven days. Only ring 111 if symptoms worsen."

Other practices managed by the health board, outside the Journal area, include Health Centre in Criccieth; Cambria Surgery in Holyhead; Longford House Surgery in Holyhead; Panton Surgery in Holywell; Porthmadog Health Centre in Porthmadog; Pen y Maes Health Centre in Wrexham ; Borras Park Surgery in Wrexham; The Medical Centre in Wrexham (Ruabon) and Beechley Medical Centre in Wrexham (Hightown).

Clarence Medical Centre in Rhyl, which is not managed by the health board, have made changes to their services. This came into effect on Friday, March 13.

In a statement, the centre said: "The most important message we can give to patients is that if you have flu like symptoms, fever or cough, please do not attend the surgery. This information is now applicable irrelevant of any foreign travel.

"At the moment our primary aim is to reduce the amount of footfall in to the surgery. We will be doing the majority of our consultations via phone or video calling. If you feel you require medical attention please ring the surgery on 01745 350680 for our PCA team to arrange for a clinician to contact you.

"If you have not already done so, please contact the surgery to nominate a pharmacy for you to collect your prescription. All prescriptions will now be sent straight to a pharmacy.

"These changes will remain in place for the foreseeable future."

Kings House Surgery in Rhyl have put out the following guidance.

A spokesperson said: "If you are suffering from a cough or fever you are advised to self isolate for seven days. Please do not attend the surgery.

"Please call the surgery if are concerned about a young child or a vulnerable adult, for example people who suffer from a chronic disease or are immunocompromised.

"All calls will be dealt with appropriately and the on site clinicians consulted for advice.

"If you are concerned your symptoms are worsening please contact NHS direct on 0845 4647.

"If unsure please call before attending the surgery to help us protect patients and staff.

"Thank you for understanding."
