A NOVEL Prestatyn charity has come one step closer to opening a devoted to prickly patients.

Tracy Pierce, who runs Hedgehog Help Prestatyn, has received a boost of £2,400 following a fundraising event at Rhuddlan Golf Club.

The event, which raised funds via a Motown and Gourmet buffet, a raffle and an auction, will help pay for new facilities to help care for poorly, underweight, injured, orphaned hedgehogs.

Mrs Pierce, a member of the British Hedgehog Preservation Society and a registered carer, said: "Our fundraiser was a fantastic success.

I'd like to say a massive thanks to everyone including Anna and Martin Boardman who did all the catering for 150 people, Rhuddlan golf course, DJ John, the 40 plus people and businesses that donated auction and raffle prizes. "Hedgehog Help did not have to pay for anything.

"We have identified where we are going to site the Hospital" and are in the process of costing the project, to apply for additional funding."
