A WIFE has paid tribute to her husband who had a 'larger than life' personality and loved his daughter - 'more than the world'.

Craig Eden, 44, died suddenly on February 22. He was married to Mandy; the couple wed in October 2017.

He was a familiar face in the Rhyl area having worked as a doorman at Marine Holiday Park, Rendezvous and occasionally at Ellis’ Bar.

Mr Eden had contracted MRSA in the past - a bacterium that causes infections in different parts of the body. This affected his body for around five years and led to him having to have his leg amputated and left him wheelchair-bound.

Mandy said: “Craig and i met in 1994 when were still teenagers and had been together ever since. Craig had a big strong personality with a great sense of humour and would help anyone. He loved our daughter Harley more than the world.

“He loved his job as a doorman too. He loved protecting people, he was made for it. Craig meant the world to so many - especially to me and Harley.

“He faced all of this with such strength, he was so brave. It left me having to be his carer, but I didn’t mind that as I loved him so much I would do anything. I really wish I could turn back time.”

Mr Eden’s death was so sudden and unexpected that the couple had not sorted any life insurance out.

As a result, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover the costs of Mr Eden’s funeral and wake.

The fundraiser, created by Mr Eden’s niece, Ebony Barber, has so far collected more than £400.

His funeral will take place at Colwyn Bay crematorium for 12.30pm on March 11, with the wake to be held at the Kings Head pub in Rhuddlan.

Ebony said: “Due to the sudden and unexpected loss of Craig, my aunt and cousin were not emotionally or financially prepared to fund a funeral and wake in his memory.

“We are reaching out to those who knew and loved Craig to see if anyone could possibly help us to fund the funeral and give Craig the send off he deserves.

“We thank Gail Roberts and the team at the Kingshead Pub in Rhuddlan for offering to do the wake and buffet for us. Couldn’t thank you all enough for your extremely kind gesture. We would be extremely grateful to anyone who would like to donate, any amount is extremely appreciated by all of our family.”

Mandy added: “We didn’t have any savings or life insurance, as I never thought I’d lose Craig. The GoFundMe my niece has set up means so much to me as we want to give this big brave man the send off he deserves.

“He meant everything to me and Harley, he was the other half of my heart and we don’t know what we are going to do with out him.

“We need to raise £695 before March 11, so that we can send him on without delays.

"If anyone can help it will mean the world and I would like to thank those that have helped so far.”
