TRIBUTES have been paid to young Ruthin man who has suddenly died.

Gruffydd Lloyd Parry, 26, described as a “well-respected local man”, died at his home in Pentrecelyn on February 11.

Mr Parry was considered a popular figure at Ruthin Rugby Club, which has cancelled its game on Saturday so that players can attend his funeral.

A post on funeral-notices.co.uk said Mr Parry’s death on February 11 is “a sad loss to all his family and friends”.

He was the loving son of Bryn and Carys and the youngest of his two siblings, Hawys and Miriam.

Mr Parry’s funeral will be held at Tabernacle Chapel in Ruthin at 12pm on Saturday, February 29.

A statement on Ruthin Rugby Club said: “Saturday’s fixtures away at Nant Conwy and Caergybi have been postponed following the tragic untimely death of Gruffydd Lloyd Parry, a well-respected local man who was a friend of the club and many of our players.

“Postponement will allow players to attend his funeral on Saturday.

“We are grateful to Nant Conwy and Caergybi for their understanding in allowing these fixtures to be postponed.

“Our condolences go to Gruff’s family and friends.”

Huw Hilditch Roberts, Ruthin county councillor, who was a neighbour of the Parry family for 10 years, said: "Gruff was a fun-loving character with a great sense of humour.

"He was a passionate individual who was loved by his mum, dad and two sisters.

"He had a massive network of friends and was always ready to help out if needed.
"My thoughts are with his family and friends at this horrendous time.
"The loss of such a young life is tragic."
