THE MP for the Vale of Clwyd MP has questioned national advice for patients concerned about coronavirus.

Dr James Davies said that while the UK Government has directed the public to call the NHS helpline on 111, it does not yet exist in North Wales.

The Welsh Government launched a roll-out of the 24-hour service in 2018, with North Wales and some other parts of Wales the only areas in the UK it is yet to be made available.

“If China can build a 1,000 bed hospital in a week, you’d think Cardiff could roll out 111 to North Wales before 2021,” said Dr Davies.

“The Wuhan coronavirus is undoubtedly a major challenge globally and obviously the sooner we develop a vaccine the better”.

There are no known cases of coronavirus in North Wales.

Dr Davies added: “Until a vaccine is developed, I urge everyone in the Vale of Clwyd to please follow the latest advice from public health authorities.”
