A REDEVELOPMENT of Ruthin Castle Hotel will see outdoor hot tubs and a Medieval eatery at the 13th century site.

The £150,000 plan has included a new spa including a vintage tearoom, relaxation zones and therapeutic rooms, with therapies such as a fragrant steam room, healing salts, muds and foaming hammam cleansing. It has also launched of The Castle Gym with a cardio area, free weights, functional training and resistance kits.

The four-star hotel is set within Ruthin Castle that was originally built by Dafydd ap Gruffydd but destroyed during the Civil War. It was rebuilt as a country house in the 19th century but parts of the old structure remain.

Phase two of the fresh redevelopment will see a ‘magical fairy woodland walk’ featuring outdoor hot tubs and a steam cabin, entered via a boot room that provides wellies, ponchos and brollies.

Other plans expected to be carried out during the spring include a brand-new bar and Medieval-themed eatery suite for guests and members of the public.

Linda Gregory, general manager, said: “We are delighted with the success so far of The Castle Gym and BAZAAR spa.

“It really is a little gem nestled in the ancient moat of the castle and it’s great to see the castle coming back to life and becoming a firm favourite with locals and guests alike.”
