TWO independent directors have been appointed to oversee Denbighshire’s leisure services.

Denbighshire County Council (DCC) has formally appointed Paul McGrady and Sian Rogers to sit on the Board of Directors of Denbighshire Leisure Ltd, which will be responsible for running leisure centres across the county including Ruthin Craft Centre, Llangollen Pavillion, SC2 and the Pavilion Theatre Rhyl.

Mr McGrady, who has been director of resources for Clwyd Alyn Housing since March last year, is the financial advisor to the board and has responsibility for strategic financial planning.

Mrs Rogers has spent the last 10 years as the North and Mid Wales youth and community director for Urdd Gobaith Cymru in which she develops and delivers strategy for the Urdd at local, regional and national level.

The board also includes Graham Boase, DCC’s corporate director; Bobby Feeley, cabinet member for well-being and independence; Huw Hilditch-Roberts, cabinet member for education, children’s services and public engagement; Jamie Groves, managing director; and Rhyl county councillor Peter Prendergast as a non-cabinet member.

Cllr Feeley, chair of the of directors of Denbighshire Leisure Ltd, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Paul and Sian to the Board. Paul brings a wealth of financial and commercial experience, whilst Sian brings extensive community development and partnership experience. Their skills really complement the skills of the remainder of the board.
