PUPILS of a Rhyl school were rewarded with a prestigious prize at the British Council International Schools Awards.

Ysgol Llywelyn was the only representative from Wales at the 20th Anniversary edition of the event.

They were handed an award for their 'outstanding work developing the international dimension'.

Geraint Rowe, Head of Learning at the school said, "This award is in recognition of all the hard work that staff have done to create opportunities for the children to learn about the world we live in. Being the only school from Wales at the awards was an honour."

The children at the school have had numerous opportunities to explore and discover different cultures and global issues.

The school has also been involved with the Rhyl Learning Community’s Erasmus partnership with schools in Spain and Romania. Pupil Olivia explained: "We have learnt a lot from the teachers and pupils that have visited us from our partners abroad, and they have learnt about our Welsh culture and traditions."
